Tunista Arctic Rim / TBI Construction, LLC

Tunista, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Calista Corporation. Originally formed in 1982, it has grown and evolved through the years to the diverse and multi-faceted company that it is today. In October 1999, Tunista was approved and certified as a SBA 8(a) ANC contractor. Tunista's bonding capacity is currently $35 million and bonding in excess of $200 million is available through the Calista Corporation.

TBI Construction, formed in 1999, is an Alaska corporation headquartered in Anchorage and licensed as a General Contractor with Residential Endorsement. The company's successful growth and solid record of efficient and cost-effective project completion are due, in large part, to careful management, skilled key members of the management team who are veterans in the Alaska construction industry.

Thomas Bergman founded TBI Construction Company in 1999, bringing with him twenty years of experience managing construction projects in Alaska with a combined dollar volume in excess of $300 million. Tom began in the field as a carpenter, and worked his way up to become the Vice President of a company performing $30 million to $40 million of work annually in Alaska bush communities. As Project Manager, and then Vice President of Operations with Osborne Construction Company, he spent up to fifty percent of his time on-site, while managing construction activities of company personnel and subcontractors, over seeing purchasing, supervising logistical operations, establishing camps for work crews, managing procurement operations and working directly with project owners and designers.

Tunista, Inc. and TBI Construction formed Tunista Arctic Rim / TBI Construction, LLC for the purpose of operating a non-8(a) development and construction firm, focusing on military contracts in Alaska, commercial and State and federally-funded projects in rural Alaska, and in the Lower 48. The TAR/TBI team has over 100 years of combined construction in Alaska. The unique challenge of building military, commercial and residential projects in rural Alaska since 1970 is what the company is about.

In 2004, Tunista, Inc. and Tunista Arctic Rim/TBI Construction, LLC became licensed in the State of Washington as a General Contractor with the intent of pursuing 8(a) and non-8(a) construction, design-build construction, and base maintenance contracts. Offices in Redmond and Bremerton are currently maintained.
